Late this afternoon (18/3/21) we received a copy of the Ministerial Policy Statement 2/2021
from the Minister of Education, that states all schools will close for a period of 4 weeks from
Monday 22 March to Monday 19 April. The 4 weeks of closure will be made up of weeks 8, 9 & 10 of term 1 and a 1 week’s holiday at the end of the term.
In line with the Ministerial Policy Statement, Goroka Grammar School will close for the 4
weeks, but we will offer alternative forms of schooling.
1. We will provide learning materials for weeks 8, 9 & 10 through email for all parents
that we have email addresses for.
2. For those parents that do not have suitable internet access at home, we will provide
printed learning materials for all grades. The printed materials will be available at
the Primary Campus for week 8 on Wednesday 24 March and for the following two
weeks it will be available on the Monday morning.
3. Students can return the completed material to the school office for distribution to
the relevant teacher for correcting.
4. The material will be marked and then retained by the teacher until the students
return after the lockdown.

The provision of learning materials will continue for the duration of the school
closure.

STOP PRESS
1. Printed learning materials for all grades will be available in week one of the school
closure on Wednesday 24 March at the Primary Campus from 9am to 12pm and
parents can come to the school at that time to pick up these materials.
2. During week two of the closure parents can return the students completed work and
pick up the next batch of learning materials on Monday 29 March from 9am to
12pm.
3. Finally during week 3 of the closure materials can be picked up and returned on
Monday 5 April between 9am and 12pm.
Alternatively parents can access the material through email if they have previously
provided the school with their contact details.
