Classes have resumed for all grades today, Monday 5 July, at both campuses. This term classes at the Secondary Campus will commence at 8am and at the Primary Campus at 8.30am.
As this is the last full term before this year’s national examinations for grade 8, 10 & 12, we urge all parents and guardians to assist their children to attend classes on time, so that children do not miss important lessons. The next set of mock exams for these three grades will be held in week 3 of this term, commencing on Monday 19 July.
Some children have turned up for classes without the term 3 school fee being paid and as this causes embarrassment, parents and guardians are encouraged to pay fees before children come to school. Goroka Grammar School now has a system of payment plans for parents that have difficulty in paying school fees in one lump sum. Interested parents can contact the school office at the Primary Campus for more information on our payment plans.
We have recently made the decision to resume our parents’ coffee evenings, that will be held at the following venues and dates:
Primary Campus-Wednesday 21 July at 5.30pm
Secondary Campus-Thursday 22 July at 5.30pm
The format of the coffee evenings will change slightly, as we will no longer begin with an open forum, but will allocate time slots for parents to meet with the class advisors to discuss their children’s progress. Closer to the time we will send out booking slips for parents to select a 15-minute time slot to meet their child’s teacher. The evening will then finish off with light refreshments and an informal gathering of teachers and parents.
Finally, we are maintaining our Covid-19 precautions at both campuses and all staff and visitors will be required to wear face masks and have hands sanitized when entering the school campus.
