Due to the Declaration of a State Emergency by the Prime Minister, Honourable James Marape, this afternoon, Goroka Grammar School will now close from tomorrow for the next two weeks. This is in effect, bringing the term 1 school holiday forward by two weeks. As all air Niugini flights will be cancelled for a two week period, all boarding students will remain on campus unless parents are able to make travel arrangements tomorrow, Monday 23 March.
There will be no inter-provincial travel for the next two weeks.
All day students should not come to school from tomorrow onwards for the next two weeks and during that period of time parents and students can access our website for updates on the situation.
If the closure is prolonged beyond the two weeks, Goroka Grammar School will offer Home Schooling through the internet for students and parents who would not want to miss an extended period of schooling.
We will update our website regularly, so all parents and students should check our site regularly.

Director of Education
