NEWS UPDATE - 10 JUNE 2020

On Monday 8 June we received a Ministerial Statement that advised all schools to resume normal schooling on Tuesday 9 June. Through this statement we believe that schools are being instructed to resume all classes on a full time basis. Since the schools resumption after the lockdown many schools have offered part time classes in order to comply with Physical Distancing guidelines.

Now it appears that these guidelines are no longer applicable and all schools can resume with overcrowded classrooms.

In response to the latest Ministerial Statement Goroka Grammar School has decided on the following:

1. Temperature checks will continue to be carried out daily.

2. Hand sanitiser will continue to be provided in the classrooms.

3. Face masks will be worn by all students and employees until the end of term 2 and then the policy will be reviewed.

4. Parents of children in ELC will be given the option of their children attending full time or part time from Wednesday 10 June.

5. Grade 8 students will return to the Secondary Campus at the start of term 3.

6. Due to the time lost during the lockdown, all Primary grades will have classes during the 1 week, term break from Monday 22 June to Friday 26 June.

7. At the same time there will be selected classes for Secondary Campus students.

8. The term 3 break will also be for one week’s duration only.
